Placente Signs on for 2 Years

Diego Placente arrived for his medical on Friday, and according to France Soir, he has passed and signed to Bordeaux on a two-year contract.
“It’s a player that we know well, as much for his international career for his performance in the jersey of Bayer, said on France-Soir Jean-Louis Triaud, president of the Girondins. All football fans know him for his final Champions League fought against the Zidane of Real Madrid in 2002. He is a very solid defender, hard on humans. He was not an exceptional speed, but he is very experienced. He is very defensive. That’s what Laurent Blanc wanted.”
He may not be the best player, but at least it gives us some time to look for someone not Jérémy Mathieu or let some of the youngsters (Trémoulinas) develop. Besides, he is basically a free transfer, and nothing bad can come out of that. I am a bit concerned since someone mentioned that he is quite mistake-prone.
The group for the match against Lorient was also released:
Goalkeepers: Ramé and Valverde
Defenders: Chalmé, Diawara, Henrique, Jurietti, Planus et Trémoulinas
Midfield: Alonso, Diarra, Ducasse, Fernando, Gourcuff et Wendel
Strikers: Bellion, Cavenaghi, Chamakh, Gouffran, Jussiê et Obertan.
I can’t say I’m surprised that Blanc plan to play Gouffran in attack again — he fit quite well in that position before. Alonso might also despite the possiblility of his move to Monaco.

Any chance Mathieu Saunier or Henri Saivet makes the first team this year?

From what I saw of him with Bayer Leverkusen he was quite solid. If he has become error prone recently I am not aware of. But seems like a trend in Ligue 1 now to have a error prone defender in the squad!

Is this the Argie, or someone else entirely?

Yes, he is the Argie.
I didn’t want him, but he comes for free so I’m ready to accept him. His experience, like Jennifer mentioned in another post, should be his main advatage for us.

Corey- It might be a bit unlikely, but I think Saivet has a shot. (He scored with the CFAs and they won the game.)
Aditya- Sounds good then
And he’s also free (I don’t think I want to follow the trend and such a defender though, lol.)Posted from

Are you guys losing anyone to the Olympics?

Don’t think so. Of the countries that are going, Argentina & Brazil are the only nationalities represented (and luckily none of them are going.)
