Before Monaco and the Title

By: Jennifer | May 23rd, 2009

The group for Monaco:

Ramé, Valverde – Chalmé, Diawara, Henrique, Jurietti, Placente, Planus, Trémoulinas – Diarra, Ducasse, Fernando, Gourcuff, Sertic – Bellion, Cavenaghi, Chamakjh, Gouffran, Jussi.

Some things to look at while biding by the 4 hours wait for the game to start:

-Mathieu Valbuena talks about what he thinks about Bordeaux and the loss to Lyon last week.

-It looks like Gourcuff’s contract contract negotiations are coming to an end. Apparently, there is a clause stipulated that he will be able to leave by the end of next season.

-It has been made clear that Yohann Pelé is a priority this transfer season. (Martha, from the Nice blog, has also informed me with some anger about Bordeaux interest in David Ospina. Not that I would mind.)

-Sevilla is interested in and following Fernando, who is bound to leave for either Italy or Spain this summer, with the right clubs.

-An interview Planus gave, in 5 parts, starting with this one.

After the game:
Looks like I had the insightfulness to put Chamakh in the photo before the game! I actually missed the game, even though it was on TV and I was at home. I had a nightmare that I couldn’t find the channel on TV, and by the time I woke up, the game already finished.

It sounds like a decent game, but I haven’t read any real reviews yet. OM also won 3-0 at Nancy, so a win or a draw at Caen will bring us the title for sure! (They lost 3-1 to Lyon today.)

Lots of Chamakh to Arsenal news today…please don’t.

I don’t see Gourcuff sticking around further than next season. Bordeaux should just buy him and sell him next season. 1] They will make good profit out of the sell, 2] Will challenge for the title next season as well, 3] Good chance of progressing through to Champions League knock out rounds, with luck maybe even further. All these factors will bring significant money to Bordeaux that will help them to sustain this success even after Gourcuff’s departure.

I wish it was that simple, Aditya, but Gourcuff is interested in going back to Milan.

Haha, maybe next time, Aditya, it was an enjoyable game nonetheless. Very nervy in the last 20 but really entertaining in the first. I swear we’re playing the most entertaining football in Europe, right now.

Jennifer, sorry you couldn’t find the match… Channel 103 ou Channel 105(?) I think is TV5. Setanta was also airing the match…

Chamakh is really going to leave along with Fernando, which is really upsetting for me. I here Morgan Amalfitano and Mathieu Coutadeur are in line to replace Fernando and Mevlut Erdinç for Chamakh.

I would love for Pele to be our number 1 GK, he’s really good.

I heard Coutadeur is keen on PSG. And if Gourcuff wants to go back to Milan, who would his replacement be?

Ok. Not at least lose to Caen! Bordeaux are playing some of best offensive football in France for sure. But defensively there are still a few holes. A side with good attack could capitalize on that. What a pity that a draw would work against Caen. But if Caen score first I am sure they will fight very hard to hold on to that lead. Something I am hoping for.

Yes, I herd Coutadeur has a great admiration for PSG but anything could happen, who wouldn’t want play under Blanc? And Gourcuff, yesterday he said he wants to remain with Bordeaux… I don’t think there are many players that could replace him, last I herd Matias Fernandez and Cabaye. We’re going to need the depth for the UCL next season so I wouldn’t be surprised if we do sign one of them. Other than Gourcuff we have no one else.

Haha, are you a Marsielle fan? All we need is a point next matchday. I know we can get it.

I care about French football in general and like all the clubs. Marseille just a bit more dearer to me!

Last matchday of previous season gives me hope. Nancy had to lose at home to Rennes, Marseille had to win to finish 3rd! It’s similar this time around just the stakes are higher. I cannot wait for Saturday.
