The Atlantic Derby

By: Jennifer | August 23rd, 2008

9th!!! 9th!!!!!!!! You’ll be seeing more of this chart.

After the unpleasant loss last week, Bordeaux are hoping to pull up their ranking to be closer to leaders Grenoble (shock? Not yet.) Les Girondins will be hosting promoted Nantes this Sunday. Bordeaux and Nantes were bitter rivals back in the day (um, ’80s? Correct me plz.) and this is the derby de l’Atlantique. Nantes have ground out a draw against Monaco (sadly, this was on TV and I didn’t watch it). They’ll be looking for some more points tomorrow. However, Nante’s captain Pierre suffered a knock in the face last face and will not be able to play. Chamakh is still with his ankle injury. As well, Diarra and Gourcuff were in the game against Sweden and trained at Clairefontaine, Cavenaghi with Argentina NT against Belarus and Gouffran with France Espoirs, so none of these key players may be as fresh as Blanc might want them to be.

Le groupe :
Ramé, Valverde – Chalmé, Diawara, Henrique, Jurietti, Planus, Trémoulinas – Ducasse, Fernando, Gourcuff, Wendel – Bellion, Cavenaghi, Gouffran, Obertan, Saivet.

Placente and Jussiê were with the CFA again (2-1 against Anglet, goals courtesy of Saunier and Bouscarrat.)

As well I will be on the look out for links. *Fingers crossed*

Saunier scored, thats good. He looks to be a pretty good defender. And Saivet was on the bench, which means he is about 5 yards from being on the pitch which is always exciting!
