What To Expect in Rome
By: Jennifer | December 7th, 2008
Expect Ramé, for he has returned. Jussiê as well!
The group
Ramé, Valverde – Chalmé, Diawara, Jurietti, Placente, Planus, Trémoulinas – Diarra, Ducasse, Fernando, Wendel, Gourcuff, Sertic, Traoré – Bellion, Cavenaghi, Chamakh, Gouffran, Jussiê, Obertan.
Blanc knows that to expect too:
“I know what to expect in Rome. We must not imagine that Bordeaux will throw in the attack to mark immediately. We have 90, 95 minutes to win this match. We’ll first we strive to defend well. To win the match, it must first defend well and if we succeed we may have opportunities to win this meeting.” Laurent Blanc
Â
You can also expect the rest of that Gourcuff interview. The amazing people at ontd_football took pictures of the scans. Did I mention they also have the video of Gourcuff walking around in his undies?
(For those of you not here for Gourcuff:
-Potential target Yohan Cabaye is also under watch from Arsenal. He also interests many other clubs such as Bordeaux, OL, PSG, ASSE, etc.
-Wendel says that Bordeaux goal for this season is to qualify for Champions League again. He said that it might be too hefty a goal to dream about winning the league, and that he would rather not think about it. He also thinks that Bordeaux does not need Gourcuff to continue playing well, but admits that Gourcuff will be an asset who keeps the pace of the game, as well as the fittest in all the Girondins.)

You live in Canada? If you have TSN2, which Rogers refuses to pick-up, You can also watch the game Wed, 4:45PM ET on TSN2, but I think it would be better to watch it live on TLN, today at 2:45PM ET.
A 4-4-2 would ba a surprise to me, but with the extra day we got to prepare I think we’ll do great.
No such thing as a Jinx in soccer, those boys are going to play there hearts out in Rome. It’s all down to luck and who wants it the most, we’ll beat De Rossi and his Giallorossi’s!
Thanks, ale.

TLN is broadcasting live in Canada
It’s in Italian but that’s only a little worse than watching in French.I think it’s either going to be 4-4-2 or he’ll tag team Chamakh and Cavé. There’s no way in hell I’ll be happy if Cavé does not play (unless we pwn Roma so hard they’ll cry their way back to the change rooms). I hope we own Totti
I’ve followed Inter all my life with my Grandpa and I can tell you that there are jinxes. (Life story lol). Obviously I want Bordeaux to make it, but it’s still unlucky for me to predict a score.

Ugh, I’m at school until 3:15 and won’t get home until a little before half time…

From “But me, I have no optimisim.”
To “I hope we own Totti… we own Roma so hard they’ll cry their way back to the change rooms.”
Haha, I hope to hear the second quote more often when refering to Bordeaux.
I refuse to believe in Jinxes… tell Mourinho to play Crespo more often. I dis-like Ibra, he’s yet to porve me wrong about him being a big game player, whether it be with Ajax, Juve or Inter.
He missed far to may opertunites against Juve the one times he played considerable well against his former team.

I’m on ESPN, and I just realized that all the stats (recent goals, assists and yellows) are all Gourcuff.
ESPN posted starting lineups. Why why why. He’s starting Gouffran again. And Cavé is out again. Why why why. I hope that’s not the final because I will smack him so hard.

Hahaha, that’s just because it IS Roma and he IS Totti.
But Zlatan is f**king amazing!!! Okay, I’m just biased here. But I don’t know, it’s just something charismatic about him and inspires hope, you know.
I just noticed that Roma is planning to start Menez. I’ve heard some rumours about Menez wanting to return to France, but “bigger” teams like Bordeaux/Lyon/OM. Isn’t he doing pooring at Roma?

Someone tell me how they’re playing because I CAN’T TELL OFF ESPN/Girondins Direct.

Brighi makes it 1-0 Roma at 61′. BLANC PUTS ON CAVENAGHI AT 58′ BUT WHAT’S THE POINT??? WHY DOES HE ALWAYS DO THIS?

Wendel off for Bellion. Blanc is kicking up the attack a bit too late.

There is like a pack of those flipping Romans and none of our players know how to cross. How odd.

Chamakh off for Jussie. I can’t justify that. Even though Chamakh looks tired, Jussie JUST came back from an injury and isn’t really at top level of play.

Damn it Doni, stop saving Gourcuff’s shots!!

Bordeaux 60% possession, 74% passes complete. What happened?

Haha, It’ looks like some one went crazy…

We got beat on the counter attack thats what heppend and we didn’t look great from the start, we were kind of sloppy.
Oh, how I wish Jussie was ready from the start. Wendel should be coming off the bench he nothing out there and Goufrann worked hard out there but he doesn’t have the technical ability to play out on the wing.
Not Gourcuff’s best game in the first 30mins evey time he touched the ball two players were on him, he didn’t really do anything.
How the hell am I going to catch Uefa cup games? Unless we make the semis I can’t watch Bordeaux anymore.

Ughhhhhhhh, I’m SO ANGRY with Blanc’s decisions. I’ve already vented somewhere BUT STILL ANGRY.
Gouffran just ISN’T READY/GOOD ENOUGH to play Champions League games when you have someone like Cavenaghi SITTING ON THE FUCKING BENCH. I mean REALLY. YOU CAN’T CHANGE YOUR FORMATION JUST A LITTLE BIT? Blanc is really going to drive Cavé out of the team by doing this.

In the past two games he has been amazing for Roma (including today, he was very good), He spoke about possibly leaving to Paris but I doubt it. He was just struggling to adapt and adjust. He’ll remain with Roma.
I hope, Placente can find his old form becasue he has alot of quality we could really use him going up the left with Jurietti going up the right.
Ibra is a great player with alot of quality, its only this big game hump that he got to get over. He has a great technique and skill…

In Blancs defence Cave didn’t do anything in the 30mins we had and if he had played the first hr he wouldn’t have touched the ball, Chamakh hardly touched the ball the whole game. The service just wasn’t there, Roma played neat and organized at back, It would have been difficult for Cave.

I know what you mean, but I would rather have started Cave than Gouffran. I mean, even 60 mins of Cave might have ended the game differently. (And did you see his hand of god attempt? I laughed SO HARD.)
Roma’s defense is really something. But a better offense might have made up for that…
