Old Lady

By: Jennifer | September 14th, 2009

The image is not suggestive at all, only hopeful. I know I’ve been gone for a loooooong while but university (and frosh week) ate a chunk of my time, but now I think I’m back, albeit not for very long posts but still back.

The group for Turin:
C. Carrasso, Rame – Sane, Chalmé, Ciani, Henrique, Jurietti, Placente, Planus, Trémoulinas – A. Diarra, Fernando, Gourcuff, Plasil, Wendel – Saivet, Bellion, Cavenaghi, Chamakh Gouffran, Jussie.

My probable lineup (because I feel like I understand Blanc a bit more now):

Carrasso
Chalme  Ciani  Planus  Tremoulinas
Diarra     Gourcuff    Wendel
Chamakh          Gouffran
Cavenaghi

I pray pray pray that I can stream the game tomorrow, but it’s right smack in the middle of my physics lab (from 1-4…), but I should be able to stream part of the second half. I was reaaaaally excited for Inter-Barca too, but my schedule just goes right above it. *RAGE RAGE RAGE* University sucks.

I am past the university point :)

I think that Blanc will whip them into shape after last week’s match against Grenoble. While Puel and Deschamps didn’t really say anything about their close games, Blanc didn’t seem happy at all. Therefore, I hope that fire that he has will spill over onto the pitch.

I wrote up a preview as well on my blog…

And Jennifer, I am looking to add a Bordeaux writer on my blog. If you are interested, drop me a line at my e-mail address on the site.

Bordeaux have their work cut out for them, and I think that this game will pretty much show how they will play the rest of the tourney.

They don’t have good luck in European play, but I think they have a different approach since Blanc has arrived. He has really transformed the team.

Still, you have to be on top of your game when you have to travel to Turin and Munich.

France vs. Italy. All three French teams against 3 Italian teams. Let’s hope France wins it 3-0. Bordeaux surely have the toughest task this week. Come on Gourcuff!

I’m not sure we will see Chamakh and Cavenaghi both starting. If they both start then Bordeaux can win but Blanc is too defensive and plays it too safe so I bet we’ll see Chamakh start as the lone forward.

Congrats to Bordeaux! Drawing Juve in Turin is no easy task. I wish Marseille had done better though.

Thanks Thomas! I think it’s a faaaaaaaanfreakingtastic result and I couldn’t have hoped for better. Taking a point from Juve in Torino is an amazing feat. Plus, I’m also excited that Plasil scored, and that I got the back row right ahahha. Maybe I can have a very very faint hope of Bordeaux qualifying now? It’s just the beginning though.

first thing i noticed is that Bordeaux has matured. two seasons with nearly the same players and fantastic coach has made this club very ambitious. their game was fluid, not 10 men behind the goal, organized, structured, confident. if they can keep it up bordeaux might turn into the next lyon

Yeah, congrats Bordeaux, but the key for you to qualify is to get all 6 points from Maccabi Haifa. Just like you got all 6 from Cluj last year.

Big game coming up on Wednesday – win the home matches and we’ll qualify against all the odds.

I’ve been standing in the virage sud since 2003 now and this is the best team I’ve seen.

A lot (too much) rests on Gourcuff’s shoulders and he’ll be gone this time next year so let’s enjoy it while we can….

Great to have you on board graham! Bordeaux is one of the strongest teams right now but I know that we are gonna lose most of our vital players, so it really is a race to look for talents and replacements before they leave. The only way we CAN qualify is to secure all 6 points against Haifa, and try to win at home against Juve and Bayern. My fingers are CROSSED that no injuries or anything insane happens…
