Entertaining Bayern

By: Jennifer | October 21st, 2009

This is another one of those posts where I can dig up ancient history, but since I was just a little kid then,  I won’t.

I know I’ve been gone for a long time from this blog and that’s because of school commitments and midterms and all that stuff. But, midterms are done, and even though I’m still really busy, THIS POST NEEDS TO GO UP OMG.

So we can talk about the finals 13 years ago, or we can talk about this upcoming game. I really haven’t been keeping up with the league and I have no idea what is going on with both Bordeaux and Lyon falling to teams that have been in the relegation zone just last year. I did watch Lyon vs Liverpool yesterday though, and it really showed that it is POSSIBLE to beat teams of that calibre away while coming off of a defeat. Nevertheless, Bordeaux is really struggling with the attacking portion of the game.

Well done to Bordeaux! And you scored all three goals, too. :-)

Ligue 1 is the only league which had multiple teams in the CL and won all of them. Sweet!

Should have been 4-1. Two missed penalties? That could come back to haunt them if things go to goal difference.

It would be very bad yes Thomas, and I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY MISSED THOSE TWO.
But I’m still reveling in the win very much. I’m totally enjoying this.

(also Thomas and Dave, how did you guys get avatars? I want one too!)

Lucky didn’t get punished for those penalties.

One thing that this tie did though is made a weak Bayern even weaker for the next meeting.

Ribery, Van Buyten, Muller are surely out. Robben & Demichelis will likely be a doubt. Bordeaux should go for the kill. Win next game and Bordeaux will be through to group stages.

Dave: Since the Offside is run by Wordpress, they carry over. They only show up for the blogger when viewing the comments to edit/check for spam. I honestly don’t remember how I got mine, sorry Jennifer.

Ahhh I see! I’m gonna work on getting one now!
The last time I talked to set was probably a good year ago? He and his girlfriend had a baby so I imagine that he is really busy with that right now.

Hey, sorry for the lack of news but I’ve been indeed very busy with the baby and a job :P
I’m still following the pretty good results Bordeaux have had and enjoyed the championship title very much. Just not had any time to write anything interesting really, sorry!

Plus Jennifer is doing a great job anyway :)

My only worry for the team right now is the poor display from the substitutes in the last few games.. We still have at least 5 more champion’s league games to go (because we will qualify, of course!) and national cup games will start soon also. If Laurent Blanc is not able to trust his substitutes, then the starters will be overused and prone to injuries. Also, Cavenaghi..

You mean, Cavenaghi is still off forum since his injury… which i think leaves a big concern about goals; that seemed to be coming from our defenders and at least half from set pieces and plays… Cavenaghi needs just a single goal then he will materialize… hopefully

Diarra ,I think has played every game thus far…and since the loss to Axuerre and ASSE you got the impression from him (Blanc) that he wouldn’t use his reserve/sub squad as relief after the champions league matches… he still has confidence in jussie, gouffran and menagazzo.

Gourcuff to me seems off his game he hasn’t really been as great as he was late last season…

Didn’t get to see the game unfortunately, but this is amazing :) Hopefully, we can finish first and maybe get to the quarter finals!
If Marseille could pull off a come back in Group C, that would be awesome :)
Maybe Ligue1 is not that bad after all?

not officially, i do pop in every couple of weeks and see how things are going.

aww, really, jennifer? school isn’t it…

i don’t think i’ll have the time right now, i don’t catch as many games as a used to either. plus your doing a magnificent job, your chamskh/arsenal (10 reasons) article was brilliant, btw.

keep the position open for me, though. i just might be ready to take it sometime in the near future, when things slow down.

Aww thanks Julien. I’m trying to work on a Blanc article but it’s taking me forever.
Let’s just say school and a boy is giving me some trouble.

I’m glad you enjoyed that article! Some people were so annoyed about it and I still don’t understand why.

Yes I’ll do that. Just let me know anytime !
