Champions League Draw
By: Jennifer | August 28th, 2008You know, I had my hands (fingers) crossed for an easy group, but don’t everyone?
| Group A | Pld | Pts |
|---|---|---|
| CFR | 0 | 0 |
| Chelsea | 0 | 0 |
| Bordeaux | 0 | 0 |
| Roma | 0 | 0 |
The only good thing about this group is the possibility that the ties might be on TV. Despite my negative reaction to the draw, Bordeaux actually has a pretty decent chance at getting through to knockouts (25-30%?)
Blanc’s reaction isn’t too positive either.
I don’t know much about Chelsea or the EPL, but getting in the finals last year must mean something right? As for Roma, they are pretty damn formidable, but there’s a chance. I’m hoping Bordeaux will be able to sneak in 2nd behind the top club (whoever they are. In my eyes Chelsea and Roma are about the same.)
First game is on Sept. 16th at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea - Bordeaux, 20:45

crap. it’s going to be rough sledding in that group. this sucks for those who want to see L1 teams do well in the CL. let’s hope for some underestimation of les Girondins…

Yeah, I’m hoping for some luck for the underdogs. It’s not that they can perform any worse, so they have breathing room!

I dont think they did enough in the offseason to be able to make it out of a group like this. Maybe a 3rd place finish and a run to the UEFA Cup quater finals at least wouldnt be so bad.

Im not a Chelsea supporter but im pretty darn sure they will be qualifying 1st in the group otherwise scolari will be out of a job. Lets hope Bordeaux are second, allex les bleus (francais pas anglais) et allez gourcuff!
