Placente on his way
By: set | July 23rd, 2008
Diego Placente, the 31 year old Argentine left-back Jennifer introduced to you a few days ago, has been confirmed by different sources as our new recruit. All we know so far is that he’s about to take the plane to sign a 2-year contract and the transfer will not cost anything as he had a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for free. The 1M from AEK Athens was just a bonus.
Diego Placente (God Placenta in English) is only Blanc’s third choice after Silvestre and Mathieu, but an interesting choice nonetheless. He’s an experienced player who got plenty of Champions League experience, playing the 2005 finals with Bayer Leverkusen. He didn’t cost anything and will certainly help the team for a couple of years until Tremoulinas is ready to become a starter. We will wait until the official announcement to give you pictures of him with the jersey and reactions from all parties involved.
In other news, Alonso might leave us. He’s consistently refusing Bordeaux’s offers for a new contract. Blanc didn’t select him in the squad to play against Toulouse and declared that “he has until Sunday to clear it out”. If Alonso is playing hard to get, it’s simply that the sirens of Monaco are trying to lure him. Ricardo wants his Argentine back and in case you didn’t know, foreign players don’t pay taxes in Monaco. Alejandro’s contract expires next year, so he might just be a tough negotiator. After all, he’s good friends with Cavenaghi, Placente is about to arrive and most of all, who would want to play for Ricardo AGAIN! Even Fernando preferred to stay in Bordeaux when Ricardo wanted him, despite knowing him for 10 years from the old times at Juventude, in Brasil.
Did I mention Placente’s wife is a pornstar? (and an ugly one at that.. NSFW by the way)

You know Placente is a freak when he walks around with an eyebrow stud. But he is a decent player, definately not as good as Jeremy Mathieu, who I heard Lyon is interested in only if Grosso decides to leave. The poor guy has missed out on Roma, Bordeaux and probably Lyon now so he can play for Tolouse, what an exciting prospect.

(Isn’t his girlfriend Jewish too?!)
And this is on the San Lorenzo website:
Diego Placente was withdrawn early from training on Wednesday and will be incorporated in the next few hours to Bordeaux of France, in an operation that would not return to San Lorenzo. The player would use a contractual clause that allows early termination.
