Girondins on fire
By: set | July 17th, 2008

Franck Jurietti, Judo Master.
A second introduction here in only a week? Yep, Jennifer won’t be the only one cheering for Cavenaghi and Gourcuff this season! I’ll be blogging with her to keep you up-to-date about all things Girondins, trying to bring a less omg-Cavenaghi-is-so-handsome perspective to the blog (nothing wrong with that! Don’t hit me Jennifer). I’m a true Bordelais, born in the city 24 years ago and I lived there ever since.
Just a little disclaimer for the few supporters of other Ligue 1 clubs that will read this blog: My posts may contain offensive comments about your favorite team. Please don’t mind them, I don’t have any mean feelings towards your team (or do I?) but rivalry is part of the sport and I’ll be glad to toy with it here and there, just for the fun of it. Of course, if it’s not acceptable, just let me know and I will stop. I’m not trying to offend anyone.
My next post will give you a little background information about the city and its history, hope you like it!

Welcome, Set
I can’t wait until the Trophee des Champions. I will be spamming this blog with lots of anti-Bordeaux comments.

Cool man, this rules now. Too bad I have to suck at being a good blogger.

Well you can’t be any worse than the PSG supporters making fun of the les ch’tis.

DDD: I’m not OMG-CAVENAGHI-IS-SO HANDSOME all the time..(but he IS handsome all the time, even when he went bald.)
But this is awesome. You probably know Bordeaux better than me. I’m just good at….looking for pictures

I’m pleased from the signings Girondins made so far. The new arrivals are exactly in the positions we needed: A right midfielder, an attacker, and two bloggers.
Now all we need is a central defender, and this season will be perfect!

I’m seeing an excellent and fun balance in the bloggers here. Male and female. French and non-. Native English speaker (I’m guessing?) and native French speaker. You’ll have different interests, different places to go for information and different ways of thinking and talking about the issues. Double fun.

Inara: We’re playing at home.. You better lose! It would be the start of an interesting season
But considering our recent results in friendlies, I’m not very confident, honestly.Laurie: Thank you! I’ll try to reach a 1/100th of your ability at blogging
Ofir: You’re right, an extra center defender wouldn’t be luxury, especially since Planus seems clearly out of form and responsible for at least two of the goals we’ve conceded in the last two friendlies.
What scares me a little is Alonso’s status.. He’s said no to Triaud’s contract proposals, and Monaco is trying to get him. The problem with him is that even though he’s far from perfect, he’s a very close friend of Cavenaghi. And it feels to me as if Alonso leaving would mean losing one of the ties Cavenaghi has with the club. That can’t be good!!

From what I’m reading off the news, I think Alonso might take the pay raise and the extension. I will cry if Cavenaghi leaves.
