Chamakh to Arsenal?

By: Jennifer | June 20th, 2009

Okay, that’ll teach me to post about unproven details of Gourcuff’s personal live(s). I’m sorry for bringing up the sensitive topic about weight and women, but that’s what models look like, and Gourcuff have always had a liking for models. It might have been better if he were still dating “healthy” and larger sized women such as Laure Manaudou (yeah, you tell me you like her better..), but it can’t be helped.

Recently the press asked his father (Christian Gourcuff) why Gourcuff, although 23, still have not married. Papa Gourcuff replied that it is because “he is a pig and somebody who likes to stay at home.” Whatever that means.

Away from that to more pressing news, it’s exploding EVERYWHERE that Chamakh is THIS close to signing with Arsenal. (à la his agent, apparently). Triaud shot back on RMC that Chamakh has in fact not entered negotiations with Arsenal at all, and that even if they were to offer €10 million euros, it might not be enough. (I always knew why I respected Triaud..)

I think Chamakh going to Arsenal would be an absolutely ridiculous idea. There is no doubt that he is a fantastic player with a whole hell lot more of potential, but he NEEDS to play or else his form will just keep on dropping. Playing time is far from a guarantee at Arsenal (case and point, Samir Nasri, the next Zidane last season). I hope Chamakh will not make the same (bad) decision as Nasri.

I’m not saying that he should stay of course (no, I hope with all my heart that he will remain), but if his mind is set and if he will go to England, let it not be Arsenal. Any other premier league team will be fine, granted it’s not a big ass team loaded with lots of talent, of course. There are also rumours of Juve wanting to replace Trezeguet with Chamakh. I don’t know if it is infact true, but should Chamakh go to Turin, he’ll need to work really hard to prove himself.

Lately, there’s also been a lot of rumour of Bordeaux coming really close to do a deal with Carrasso. For me, he is second choice to Pelé, but it seems like the latter is unachievable. Carrasso will be ideal too.

As well, Bordeaux have insisted that Diarra is not leaving.

I’m not saying Chamakh would get playing time, but to say Nasri didn’t is crazy. He started essentially every game he was fit to play in.

Yea Nasri played nearly every game. As an Asenal fan I feel that Chamakh isnt good enough- though I havent seen much of him. Whats the word from your camp? Good enough to replace Adebayor? I dont get that impression…

Chamakh shouldn’t go to England. Spain will be an ideal league for him.

Btw, Nasri did pretty good at Arsenal. I still think another season at Velodrome and he could have improved a lot.

chamakh isnt anything special. sell him for 10+ and u can help pay off the gourcuff fee and maybe buy a decent striker.

wrong translation for yoann gourcuff: his father christian didn´t say ¨he was a pig¨. He said ¨he is bad-tempered¨. That´ s a french expression.

apparently we’ve agreed to fees with toulouse for Carrosso for an estimated 8ME and all that remains is for him to put pen to paper when he comes back from his vacation sometime mid-week. he was surely second choice to Pele, but there are so many clubs after him, and he would have came with some massive wages as well.

I thought it would have been better to get pele for free than spend 8M on carrosso but it’s a great transfer for Bordeaux, nevertheless.

Carrosso is better in the air anyways.

Cabeye came out and said he wants a transfer to bordeaux, so well see how that develops. He’s come in as a direct replacement to fernando who is pretty much bordeaux player as it seems (he hasn’t got any concrete offers).

Diarra will stay, chamakh might leave (if he does, for the right price)… the only transfer that is worrying me is Diawara and OM.

Chamakh has wanted to leave for a long time now so Bordeaux really should have been preparing to find his replacement by now. Its not like this is some shock move where a team comes in with some humongous offer and they have to scramble to find a replacement in such limited time.

true, it’s not definite if he’s going to leave, it seems like he wants to leave no matter what, but he wont leave if what ever offer we receive is not supplementary/beneficial to the club.

i think, erding was our initial replacement for chamakh, in fact, i think there was a list of players like le tallec and gevinho. but, it’s funny how we have not perused anyone other than cabeye and carrosso especially considering we have other areas to strengthen.

we also can’t overlook the fact that the club has a been a bit preoccupied with diawara and diarra.

i agree, with you Sportboy, we should be looking for replacement within the up coming weeks.

What type of striker is Chamakh? Adebayor is heavily tipped to leave I was just wondering if he is the same style or not.

Yeah, a lot of stuff coming out recently while everyone is on vacation. First it is that Diawara will extend but now apparently Triaud has given the okay to talks with OM. The priority right now are Cabaye and Carrasso (8m for 4 years?), but even though PSG and Genoa have been in talks with Fernando, he isn’t tipped to go yet. Fulham and Arsenal both have bids in for Chamakh but I think Triaud is looking for better offers… All in all, not too busy of a time and really we have to give the market sometime, and especially wait for many of the players to come back from vacation (i.e. Diawara from Miami)

@ Arsenal shirts: I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but Chamakh is one of those strikers who hangs out a lot outside and in the penalty area looking for opportunities. Depending on the strength of the midfield, he does a lot of passing and crossing if the midfield isn’t doing it. Mostly I’d say he’s terrific in the air and at set pieces.

Also, sorry about the Nasri thing. I’m not exactly attuned to the EPL so I assumed that a lack of news about Nasri = a lack of playing time. I have heard about his drop in form but didn’t assume it would be a big thing other than a drop from been favoured by the coach.

And sorry about the mistranslation, I do not speak French, and can barely read/write, so I’m at a loss when it comes to common sayings and stuff. I’ll try to be more careful with it comes to things like that next time.

@ steph: I know that Gourcuff do chill a lot with models when he used to be Milan and what not. Not that I think he dates them seriously.
