Top of Table!

Woohooo! Celebrateeeeeee!!!!!

It’s a great feeling to be at the top, I must admit. And to win by 4-0 too! I could not find a stream for this game but I was following some minute by minute reportings. Two goals by Bellion, one from Cavenaghi and one from Wendel, it really feels like Bordeaux is finally back on track. I don’t think I can count how many times Cavenaghi was offside or a shot missed or a shot saved, but it really shows just how valuable he is to the team. Apparently, even though he has only one assist for Bellion’s first goal, he was involved in setting up two others. That means he was involved in all four goals scored in this game.

Of course the same (amazingness, that is) applies to Chamakh, who had two assists, after replacing Gourcuff in the 69th minute, as well as Bellion (his double, as you can see) and of course, Gourcuff, which I guess I don’t need to mention. Even Gouffran had an assist and many shots on goal, despite all the shit I’ve been saying about him recently. I hope he’s back for good this time. Oh Wendel ♥, we’ve missed you and your amazing set pieces and tireless work in midfield. Thank you for being back.

“There were a lot of good things tonight, apart from scoring four goals, we scored from open play, which is extra special and a good reward. -Blanc

“We can take pleasure from the fact we are leaders, I wouldn’t tell you anything else.”

Duly noted: Le Harve might not be the strongest team in L1, promoted from L2 last season and currently languishing in relegation, but Blanc wanted goals and he gets it. Defense seem to be doing a faily tolerable good job, but it’s hard to tell in a less attack minded team.

Duly noted 2: Both OL and OM play tomorrow, so this first place position probably will not be for long. Of course, OL is going to play last placed Sochaux. OM will be heading to Nantes while dealing with the ben Arfa ~drama~.  While John deals with the drama, I’ll be taking this time to celebrate :D (In secret, I emo for ben Arfa’s mental health and hope he deals with his demons soon enough.)

Moving on…

You may have noticedthat I didn’t say anything after the 2-2 draw against Nice. I did watch the game but, well let’s just say I really thought we were going to grab the three points until the final minutes, because we were playing SO WELL. Really, Placente actually won a penalty for us *shock*. Ducasse was seriously over reacting and bitching like a mad/jealous man. For the record, I do think the last penalty was justified, despite what Blanc says. The seemingly offside goal though, I can’t say much. The stream was too blurry to tell. Martha did a good job reviewing at the Nice blog.

Also, some old news: Gourcuff is not €15m in the clause as previously suggested (and by the way, not €12 either. It’s much more). If you read the news at all, you’d know that Blanc does not consider him to be indispensable to the team at all (after saying that he’s of the same calibre as someone he used to play with: Zidane). I do agree with him. We can probably manage without him, now that key Bordeaux players have returned from periods of….inconsistency. We’ll see what Blanc and Triaud decide in the winter. I hope they decide to keep him. He’s pretty enough to get me through the fact that occasionally I’ll have to put up with Placente’s intimidating presence.

If it interests you, the Spurs are also interested in Cavenaghi. That’s two :O

@ Gaston It’s nice booster after that disappointing game at Nice. I’m more and more impressed but their quality and level of play, match by match.

    ))))))))))))))):
I’m sad you had to tell me that. Apparently there is Setanta Canada, but I’m not subscribed to it. Maybe I just *assumed* that there won’t be streams for it and didn’t look hard enough.

In some ways I think it’s for the better, since I have tonnes of homework that’s already pretty overdue…

Goal.com just posted this article about Blanc being a little unhappy with the performance.
I have not read such ridiculousness before. Going off to double check in my L1 rsses…

    hey jennifer,

i’m a milan fan; and i must admit i am selfishly tracking bordeaux’s progress because of gourcuff.

do you know exactly how much the transfer clause is, and is that a massive amount for bordeaux?

On one hand, I’m excited because that means that L1 is getting stronger. But then I’m freaking out because OMG Lyon isn’t in first place anymore!!!

Hello shehan. Hahaha, I can understand your feelings. It has been rumoured to be around either 12m euros (according to Setanta) or around 15m eurs (l’equipe). However Triaud did mention in interviews that he costs much more than that, so I’m guessing at least 18m euros or even in the realm of 20m. And yes, that IS a massive amount of Bordeaux. I don’t think they can even be counted in the top 5 richest clubs in L1, which is pretty poor in the first place, albeit Lyon. In order to purchase Gourcuff Triaud not only has to conference with the stockholders and etc., and it will be a long progress. (Our latest purchase was free, by the way, and we really needed a good defender. Triaud didn’t even want to fork over a 4.5m for Jeremy Mathieu.)

Has anybody else heard 15m for Gourcuff? I can’t remember where I read that, but that’s what sticks in my mind.

ALLEGEDLY it was good. From the highlights they looked superb. I didn’t watch it either (even though it was on TV…ehhhhhh). Gourcuff was a bit battered. Apparently his knees has been a bit sore during training because of all the fouls suffered. Blanc probably won’t give him the full 90 against Nancy and save him for the CL game.
