Agreed Inara. It could have been the third year in a row they go to Champion’s League hadn’t they messed up 2006/2007’s season finish.

But now all I really hope is that Blanc will stay for a couple more years.

The goal should really be participating consecutively in the Champions League. Not only does this mean a lot more money, but it also adds up in terms of experience and publicity. It’s how Lyon grew as a club as well.

Ideally, in terms of France’s development as a league, I’d like to see Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, and PSG fighting for the European spots every season. As much as I love the openness of L1, it’s also a big weakness when compared to other leagues. Domination=money=success.

Oh I agree that Blanc doesnt have his ideal squad yet which is why they wont win it this year and they are positioning themselves to win it in a couple of years time.

Inara -Bordeaux winning will be a great boost in confidence (and I don’t think anyone minds more shiny things in the cabinet), but if you look at their performance in the friendlies…I think it will be quite a toss up.

Sportboy -Fingers are crossed for the best, but a 2nd or 3rd place finish is definitely for the best. I don’t think Blanc has his ideal squad yet, and I really look forward to seeing the academy players playing for the first team. Who knows, Bordeaux may actually do well in the Champions League

I’m not really into making predictions but I think we are looking at either a 2nd or 3rd place finish for Bordeaux which would be great for them since it would guarantee Champions League football again allowing them to further strengthen their team for an eventual French league title run.

I think Bordeaux is going to win the Trophee des champions. They’ve been playing together as team longer this pre-season, plus the squad hasn’t changed that much, and no major departures.

Too bad about Alonso though. It was starting to become a nice big Argentine family over there.
